Today was the first day of Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run 2018.  We took off from Big Moose Harley-Davidson in Portland.  It was a great morning with excellent weather and a great crowd.  The woman who treated the crowd with the bag pipes yesterday entertained us with the accordion.

Patience waiting for the start

Once Kevin rode off it was time for us to leave.  Our destination was Keene, NH.  We did make a stop at Manchester, NH for a few items because of the non-existing sales taxes.  (These are the things that living all over the country can teach you- or having a brother that has!).

We checked into the hotel with no issues.  We found a place to eat with an outdoor patio,  Cobblestone Ale House.  Jay had a bowl of chili that filled the void of his belly but disappointed his taste buds.  He did have a local beer that got great approval from another patron to which after tasting
he agreed.  Mark ordered a BLT that totally hit the spot for him.  Me?  I got their fish sandwich which  met my expectations.  My choice of beer did not get the same voiced approval as Jay's but I would order it again.

We went to meet Kevin as he came in for the day.  There were no texts during the day so I assumed all went well.  He made it in about the last minute in good condition.  He did have a bit of an issue after a gas fill.  He was not alone because he spent about 30 minutes helping an Italian rider push start his bike!

Kevin checking in at the end of the day

After getting back to the hotel, Kevin had to work on the carburetor.  He said tomorrow will tell how it's working.  It was a short work night ending with pizza from Athens.  When I asked the hotel registration girls for a recommendation , they both said Athens without hesitation!  It was delivered and while it was good, I feel it is probably so much better eaten at the restaurant.

I forgot to add that as we approached Bug light yesterday, we saw where all the lost pods are!!  Yep!  There is a lot full of pods!  They look lost to us!

Tomorrow we start at 8:00 am and end the day 251 miles later in Binghamton,NY.  It is supposed to be colder.
