Here we are the night before the offical start of Cannonball 2018!!  As I type this our team is tucked in bed exhausted from all the excitment leading up to this point!

I am sorry to say that as excited as I am to be out where there is amazing seafood, I have only had it once while here!  Last night we were treated by Bruce, the sag wagon driver, to fresh boiled lobster.  He boiled them and threw them out onto the flatbed trailer with the only instructions to those lucky enough to be there to get one- save the heads so he could eat them!

For the past two days we have been blessed with the friendship of Spike and Marcia along with their generousity of being our errand runners so we didn't have to break camp with the motovan. This morning they treated us with fresh pastries from a local bakery (I forget the name on the box, sorry).  I will say, I had the blueberry scone which was delicious.  Jay had some fruit and cream filled turnover type pastry which he stated was delightful!  Nobody had a bad comment on any of the selections.  Next, they served as our uber driver as they drove us to the locations of today's prologue ride.  This was a 10 mile ride for the riders to Bug Light Park and then over to Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth.

a daper Kevin, ready for Prologue ride

At Bug Light Park the riders were assembled in an arc for the bike and rider photo.  To gather a group of over 100 bikes in such a photo took quite some time but I know the final photo will be well worth it.  The park has a great view of downtown Portland, sailboats and lighthouses.

a small part of the rider/bike photo, Kevin's back there somewhere!

The next destination was Fort Williams Park.  I could have spent more time there but the short we did get was well worth the drive through construction ladened roads!  It is a working lighthouse complete with a museum, trails and a small lot for a few food trucks ( selling lobster of course!).

After the ride, Kevin had to tweak just a few minor things before putting Patience to rest in the motovan so she is ready to go tomorrow.  We ended the night at the Welcome banquet.  I am happy to report the vest and hat effort was a hit, whew!!

dressed for the party in our new hats and vests :)

Tomorrow Kevin starts the ride from the local Harley-Davidson dealer.  It'll be a short 145 mile ride for them.  Good Luck Kevin and Patience!!
